Trading Desk allows users to create creatives for their campaigns. All the features available for working with creatives via TD are described below

View a list of creatives

In order to view the list of creatives that belongs to the specified campaign, navigate from the Campaign page to the Creatives tab (figure 1)

This page displays statistical information on each creative:

  • impressions
  • clicks
  • CTR
  • amount spent
  • moderation status
  • creative status (running, paused etc.)

Delete a creative

It is possible to delete existing creative. To do it, navigate to the Creative view page, select the creative you need to delete, click additional menu rights and click Delete icon

View a creative

When you click any creative, you see the Creative view page, when you can see all the current settings of this creative.

Besides, for HTML banner in Moderation section you can see the status for the following moderation types:

  • T - Trading Desk - Trading Desk Moderation,
  • G - Google - Google Moderation,
    Creatives such as Yandex HTML are moderated by Yandex.

Create new creative

The ways of creating creatives depend on their types

1. How to create HTML banner creative

There are several ways to create such creative:

1.1 Import html code

Creating a creative by importing the code in the TD interface is available by clicking the "Create creative" -> HTML button (Figure 3).

To create a new creative you need:

  • specify a unique name for the new creative,
  • add the creative code to the appropriate section,
  • set the size of the new creative (choose from the proposed list or specify manually),
  • set a number of additional settings
    One of the additional settings is a navigation link. It can include various macros, values are changed automatically while generating a URL. The following macros are supported:
  • {CAMP_ID} - this macro will be replaced with the campaign id,
  • {CR_ID} - the macro will be replaced with the creative id,
  • {SRC_ID} - the macro will be replaced with the domain id,
  • {TR_KEY} - the macro will be replaced with the click id.

In additional settings you can specify destination domain, audit pixel and additional audit pixel. Besides, you can specify a creative category - the category of IAB catalogue, 1st version. A creative language is specified in the appropriate section of additional settings as a code.

1.2 Upload zip archive

To create a creative by uploading the archive, select "Create creative" -> HTML in the TD interface (Figure 4). The archive is loaded by clicking the "Add archive" button:

Archive must meet the following requirements:

  • zip format
  • max size - 6 Mb
  • archive can contain images only in such formats as gif, jpeg, jpg, png
  • archive can contain files only in such formats as html, js, css, swf, svg
  • Please note that unknown file types may be ignored or an error may occur when unpacking the archive. To download an example of a correct zip archive follow the link.

2. How to create Yandex HTML creative

In TD, when creating a creative of the "Yandex HTML" type you will see the following window:

When creating a creative it is required to do the following:

  • set the name of the advertiser (max 80 characters),
  • specify a unique name for the new creative (max 80 characters),
  • upload archive containing creative. You can upload it locally or via the link. Please find more information about archive requirements below.
  • upload a blank image. You can upload it locally or via the link. Please find more information about blank images below.
  • enter an alternative text (max 255 characters),
  • Yandex brand (max 80 characters),
  • Yandex categories (max 80 characters),
  • fill in the section with additional creative settings.

Archive must meet the following requirements:

  • TD validation
  • zip format
  • max size - 150 Kb
  • The files must be in the root of the archive
  • Yandex validation:
  • requirements for advertising materials are described in the section
    Example of a valid archive: Zip

Blank image must be attached to the archive. This image will be moderated, including the size. Blank image will be displayed instead of the banner in the case of any possible problems concerning the banner. This image will be displayed with alternative text. The size must be the same as the banner size.

This image must meet the following requirements:

  • TD validation
  • formats: jpeg, jpg, png, gif, svg.
  • max size: 150 Kb
  • min resolution: 80 x 80 px
  • max resolution: 4096 x 4096 px

  • restrictions on the size of the blank image are described in the Yandex Banner Advertising section.

Creative preview

It is possible to preview creatives by clicking the Preview button. To preview the actual creative, it is needed to save all the changes in the creative settings section. Preview link is a content of the destination domain. Please note, when previewing a Yandex HTML creative, a blank image is displayed.
